ProSoft Technology MVI56-ADM ControlLogix Application Development Module

The ProSoft Technology MVI56-ADM is a C-programmable application development module for the Rockwell Automation ControlLogix platform. It runs user-written C applications in-chassis on a General Software DOS 6-XL environment, with ProSoft’s serial-port, backplane and ADM APIs and a bundled Digital Mars C++ compiler (Borland C++ 5.02 is also supported). Integrators use it to put custom logic right on the 1756 backplane — barcode scanner interfaces, legacy ASCII protocol connections, terminal emulation, alarm printer drivers and proprietary protocol implementations.

This listing is for the single-slot MVI56-ADM module (MPN MVI56-ADM). It carries three serial ports: an RS-232 CFG port for debug and configuration, plus two isolated application ports (PRT1 and PRT2) that are software-configurable for RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 at up to 115,200 baud, with full hardware handshaking for radio, modem and multi-drop links. ProSoft has issued a lifecycle letter for this part, so a tested unit is a direct way to keep a deployed custom application in service.
