The ProSoft PLX31-EIP-MBS4 is a stand-alone DIN-rail gateway, a protocol converter rather than an Ethernet switch, that transfers data in both directions between an EtherNet/IP network and Modbus serial field devices. Each of its four serial ports supports RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 and runs as a Modbus Master or Slave, so one gateway can consolidate up to 400 Modbus devices behind a single Ethernet drop, with up to 100 configurable commands per Master port and floating-point data movement supported.

On the EtherNet/IP side the gateway provides eight Class 1 I/O connections plus Class 3 explicit messaging in client and server roles, and an optional SD card slot stores the configuration file for quick disaster recovery. This listing is for a new, factory-sealed unit.
