Siemens SCALANCE S615 Industrial Security Router (6GK5615-0AA00-2AA2)

The Siemens SCALANCE S615 (6GK5615-0AA00-2AA2) is a DIN-rail industrial security router used to protect automation cells, machines, and field devices at the network edge. It routes and firewalls traffic between an external (WAN) network and the internal industrial LAN, pairing a stateful-inspection firewall and NAT/NAPT address translation with an integrated five-port 10/100 Mbit/s (Fast Ethernet) RJ45 switch. For remote access it supports both IPsec VPN and an OpenVPN client — up to 20 VPN connections, encrypted with AES-256/192/128, 3DES, or DES and authenticated by pre-shared key or X.509v3 certificate — and it can register with a Siemens SINEMA RC server for centrally managed remote maintenance. Static IP routing, a DHCP client and server, NTP, and a separate 24 V digital input and output round out the feature set, and the unit is administered through web-based management, CLI, or SNMP v1/v2/v3.

This is the standard SCALANCE S615, powered from a 24 V DC supply (10.8–28.2 V) with a redundant power input and roughly 4 W typical draw, rated for -40 °C to +70 °C operation at IP20 and mounting on a 35 mm DIN rail. Its configuration and certificates can be saved to a plug-in C-PLUG medium, so a replacement unit can be provisioned in the field without a PC.
